We share this inside tip to the playful of all ages. In other words: Kinetic energy leaves traces. Secret designs of the unconventional drawing top have long since been surfaced, and TOP-X is now a real thing.

It can reel, stagger, roll, whirl and waver along, leaving intriguing lines of spiral images.

Put a pencil through the solid aluminium disc’s hub and set down gently the writing tip. Now give the wheel a firm turn between both your hands, and TOP-X will – with some manual practice – draw its tracks eagerly on the (almost) horizontal plane of paper.
